I’m often asked why I chose to pursue a PhD with the goal of becoming a business professor, effectively leaving behind a lucrative engineering career. For me, it was simple. I wanted to shift toward a career that allowed me to change lives in a way that best suited me. As an engineer, my work was impactful and important. However, since I’ve been in the classroom, I’ve found more meaning and purpose in my work, and I’ve been able to make a difference in a more direct way. The transition from engineering to academics has been one of my greatest challenges. I’ve sacrificed a lot of things, but at this point, I have no regrets and have been happy with my decision. After all, once an engineer, always an engineer. I encourage everyone to seek the life/career they want and do whatever it takes to get there. You only get one life to live. #MondayMotivation #InsightsByIsaac #PurposeDriven #BlackBoyFly
